Organic Space: A Unique Residential House Design by Chin-Shu Chen

The design of Organic Space is positioned within the context of the building and the city, offering a unique and rich living experience that evolves with time and seasons. Based on the concepts of sunlight, air, and water, Organic Space utilizes a fusion of materials such as wood grain, leather, cloth, and glass to connect the visual rhythm of each area. The overlapping and fusion of these materials create a harmonious and dynamic atmosphere, while the play of light and shadow adds depth and dimension to the space. The design also incorporates versatile functions, ensuring that every aspect of the space is optimized for comfort and convenience.

The architectural mass and facade of Organic Space are designed to eliminate unnecessary complexity, allowing the internal logic and relationship of the space to take center stage. The integration of different types of light into the tangible building body brings energy and life to the design. The combination of different materials, variations in levels, and the openness of the space all contribute to a natural and humanized environment.

The design of Organic Space was realized in Taiwan, with the project starting in March 2018 and finishing in September 2018. Throughout the design process, the team faced various challenges, including the integration of light and shadow layers and the creation of smooth rhythms through curved surfaces. However, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a design that seamlessly blends aesthetics and functionality.

Organic Space has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements while also providing fulfillment and positive feelings. The recognition highlights the unique qualities and impact of Organic Space in the world of interior design.
